I Have a Dream

On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King gave a speech that has come to define his work for equality and freedom.

While our dreams today for both our country and ourselves might be different from those Dr. King expressed, it is important for all of us to have dreams to help direct our lives. We should have dreams to help us be better people, to help us prepare for the career we would like, and to help us be successful people.

  • When finished taking the test, show the teacher your paper.

These may be dreams for becoming a better person, dreams about your career, dreams about your personal life as an adult, dreams about places you would like to visit, dreams about fun things you would like to do, dreams about things you would like to own, etc. Begin each statement with these words - "I have a dream that ......." then complete the statement with your dream.
  • After you have written your 10 dreams, go back and write the type of picture you would like to have for each dream.
(Ex. If you said you would like to be a veterinarian, you could put the picture of a veterinarian working with an animal.)
  • Show your teacher your "dreams" paper.

4. We will use your dreams to create an "I have a dream" PowerPoint.

5. We will use your Powerpoint presentations to create a PhotoStory with music.
